Video ID/Management App Mizuu Removed From Play Store By Google For Alleged Content Policy Violations

You can probably figure out
almost all the salient details of this story without
reading it – we've seen almost the exact same thing
happen to other developers. I'll just give you a
moment to outline the situation in your head, then
we'll see how close you got. Ready? Okay. The
developer of the super-neat video indexing app
Mizuu was notified earlier today that Google has
pulled the app for violating Google's policy on
sexually explicit material.
Mizuu plugs into themoviedb.org to analyze and ID
your video files. It then attaches cover images,
descriptions, and other data. Some of the content in
the database is of a more risqué variety, but the app
has that stuff disabled by default. The issue,
according to the developer, is likely that some titles
in themoviedb are not categorized properly as adult
material and might appear in the app with default
settings. The dev points out this is no different than
a browser app that can navigate to themoviedb, but
that's not a distinction made in Google's Play Store
agreement. [How are you doing so far? Close?]
Google tends not to be very communicative in these
situations, but the dev has reached out anyway. The
current plan is to re-upload Mizuu as a new package
soon, but that means users will have to buy it again.
It isn't made clear in the Google+ post whether or not
some changes will be made in an attempt to prevent
a recurrence of this problem. If it's the same app just
as a different package name, Google might end up
taking more extreme steps.

Verizon Galaxy Note 3 KitKat- Delivering OTA Software Update Now Hitting Devices

Carriers are pretty overt
about making consumers
pay for their devices using
long-term contracts or
high amounts of cold, hard
cash. They're not so open
about the subsequent
payment in tears - thick,
heavy tears dropped
waiting for Android
updates that feel destined never to come. Well,
Verizon Galaxy Note 3 owners, you've officially paid
enough. It's time to wipe away those tears, for the
Galaxy Note 3 KitKat OTA update is finally rolling out
to devices.
This update comes over five months since Google
unveiled the sweet details surrounding KitKat,
whetting Note 3 users' appetites for the features to
come. AT&T , Sprint , and T-Mobile all rolled out the
update before the end of March, but Verizon
customers weren't destined for such good fortune.
Their KitKat arrives today, in May.
The version number is N900VVRUCNC4 . If it has yet
to arrive on your device, it's time to fire up Kies or
harass that update button.

After holding a one day sale, running out of inventory, and accidentally leaving the store open, the team behind Google Glass promised to find more ways to expand the Explorer Program to those who wanted in. This evening, Google Glass announced - through Google+ - that Glass is now available to everyone in the US, "as long as we have it on hand." Last week we told you we'd be trying out new ways to find Explorers. Well, we weren’t kidding. We learned a lot when we opened our site a few weeks ago, so we’ve decided to move to a more open beta. We’re still in the Explorer Program while we continue to improve our hardware and software, but starting today anyone in the US can buy the Glass Explorer Edition, as long as we have it on hand:google.com/glass We’re ready to keep meeting new Explorers, and we can’t wait to hear all your experiences and feedback to continue to make Glass even better, ahead of our wider consumer release. The Glass team's vague language leaves the possibility open that this sale will also close eventually ahead of an actual public release, so if you're someone who's been itching to get a hold of Glass (and you've got the spare cash on hand), hit the link below and get it while it's hot.

Flappy Bird clones are lame
– we all know this. However, when a game is truly
aware of how ridiculous cloning Flappy Bird is, the
results can be pretty amusing. In FlapThulhu, you
control the Ancient Ones, who are for some reason
flying through a maze instead of demanding blood
sacrifices.
You can probably guess how it works – you tap,
FlapThulhu flaps. In addition to clearing the gates,
you also pick up skulls that unlock a more arcade-
like fight mode and a different playable Elder Thing (a
Shoggoth). That one has fewer tentacles, but lots of
eyes.
Can you possibly withstand the madness and evil
infesting every pixel of this game to flap through the
gates? I wouldn't blame you if this Lovecraftian
nightmare was too intense. If you cannot handle this
much unspeakable terror, Noodlecake also has a
hipster-themed version called HodappyBird .

Google Play Carrier Billing Support For 3 (Drei) Lands In Austria ***

Play Store carrier billing
support has rolled out to
another mobile provider, 3
(Drei) in Austria. If you
head over to Google's
carrier billing support
page , the site doesn't list
it just yet, but thanks to a
tip, we've laid our eyes on
screenshots suggesting
otherwise. Here, feast your eyes as well.
Why is this a big deal? Some people don't want to
provide Google with their credit card numbers. Others
would rather just budget these purchases for the end
of the month. Whatever the motivation, having
options is nice.
There's a chance Google is planning to add support
for other carriers (or already has) before updating the
page. For now we will just have to wait and see, but
we are sending this word out so any eager 3
customers can get started with carrier billing right
away.

Google Adds Nexus 5 Snap Cases To The Play Store In Five Variants Priced At $29.99

In case you were getting bored with the already
reasonable selection of official Nexus 5 accessories
on the Play Store, Google has just slipped in a new
series of Google-branded snap cases for the phone,
priced at $29.99 and coming in Black, Aqua, Silver,
White, and Clear variants.
The cases look pretty sleek, wrapping around the
sides and back of the device, adding a Google logo
to the back, and leaving the top and bottom edges
open. It's hard to say how the cases feel (we'll find
out soon), but from the images, the colored versions
seem to have a matte finish while the clear variant
looks glossy. To grab yours, just hit the link below.

Leaked HTC One M8 Image Shows The Sleek, Metallic Phone With A Case Of The Blues

The HTC One M8 hasn't
been out for all that long,
but it's already feeling the
blues. This isn't just a
slight case of them, either.
According to a leaked
press shot from @evleaks ,
the phone's suffering them
from its heads down to its
toes. Just take a look at
this press image and see for yourself.
It's amazing how a phone with a body to die for
could still find itself so depressed. But to the M8's
credit, this condition runs in the family. The M7 hit
the States last year in a metallic blue option that was
exclusively available through Best Buy.
This may be indicative of a larger psychological
issue. The M8 is apparently going through all sorts of
moods these days, as just last week we saw it
dressed in pink . We're still curious why, but there's a
decent chance the reason was: "Because I wanted to
feel like a princess."
Then again, we've all had those days.

'levelup' studio releases new app BRIGHT WEATHER . a beautiful minimal and informative weather app.

Let's speak some truth here right out of the gate:
weather apps are a dime a dozen in the Play Store.
With the volume of apps designed to tell users the
weather, it's really difficult to put out something that
stands out in the crowd. Fortunately for LevelUp
Studio, it has quite a bit of experience in that field
thanks to its incredibly popular app Beautiful
Widgets . If you're into informative, yet minimal apps,
then the company's newest offering, Bright
Weather, should be right up your alley.

LevelUp claims that Bright is the "most
comprehensive weather app available on Android." I
can't personally say whether that's actually true or
not, but I will say that Bright offers up quite a bit of
info on just a few screens. And it does all this
without being overwhelming. The app's primary
screen is a very simple readout with the current
temperature and a sort of flowing line chart that
displays the temperature in a 32-hour window,
highlighting both low and high points. A quick swipe
to the next page shows a more detailed look at the
current conditions, along with a easy-to-follow chart
with what's expected for the day. Below that is
sunset and sunrise times and a quick look at what to
expect for the next several days. Finally, there's a
radar image along with UV index, moon phase, and
some high/low averages.

While the interface and displayed information is
essentially the same, the app combines the info from
the last two pages of the phone app and displays
it all in one panel on tablets, so it's even easier to
pull in a full day's worth of weather at a glance.
Lastly, there's a neat option at the top to launch the
camera and snap a picture with the current
conditions and forecast embedded at the bottom. You
know, for sharing on social networks. Because
people love weather. No, I'm not being sarcastic. It's
cool.

Bright Weather is free in the Play Store, but there's
the option to remove the ads for $2.79. That's a little
on the pricey side, but the ads really kill the
experience in my opinion, so it's worth buying
LevelUp a cup of coffee for a cleaner experience. Hit
the widget below to give it a shot.

we have told you a lot about this app but for more info head over to play store

Amazon Appstore Coins expanded to SPAIN , FRANCE , ITALY

In-app purchases are all the
rage these days, and Amazon's take on the whole
deal includes Coins – Amazon Coins. They're like a
universal currency that can be used in many apps
and games available in the Amazon ecosystem. Today
more people get to know the joy of Amazon Coins –
they're now available in France, Italy, and Spain.
Developers don't have to do anything to take
advantage. Apps that are distributed by Amazon and
available for sale in these countries have Coins
enabled. This is actually a good thing for developers
– Kindle Fire owners in these territories will be given
500 free coins to blow on apps and in-app content.
Customers can earn Amazon Coins as rewards in
apps or buy them with real money. In the latter case,
the exchange rate is 100 Coins = €1.

LG's life band touch and heart rate earphones will go on sale in U.S. by may 18th

Are there just not enough
wearable options in your life? Well, LG is going to be
getting into the game come May 18th.

The company's
previously announced Lifeband Touch and
corresponding Heart Rate Earphones will be on sale
at that time to augment your person.
These devices were announced back at CES 2014, but
now we've got a release date. The Lifeband Touch is
mostly a fitness tracker with a small OLED screen, but
it can also pipe in all your notifications and do a few
other tricks. It's not a full-fledged smart watch,
though. The earbuds are able to track your heart rate
and log that data with a smartphone or the Lifetouch.
LG said in January the price would be $179.99 for
each device, but the new PR doesn't mention price at
all. We're going to run with that until LG says
otherwise.

Moto E officially announced by Motorola only at ₹6999/$129

There it is folks, the Moto E has been announced.
We've known about it for a little while thanks to a
couple of leaks, one of which even included specs .

Today, Motorola held an event in India to officially
launch the budget handset, starting it at just 6999
Rupees (about $117 USD). Shortly after the show was
over, US pre-orders also went live with a starting
price of $129 without contract. The Moto E will
ultimately roll out to more than 40 countries over the
next few weeks.

The video promises a scratch resistant screen, water-
resistant splash guard, all-day battery (dependent
upon usage habits), customizable shells, and a
guarantee of an Android OS upgrade in the future. An
important detail is hidden in the small print which
specifies that the phone will "receive at least one
software update to the current KitKat 4.4.3 operating
system." It's likely that Motorola is just legally
covering itself in the event that the next major
Android version exceeds the capabilities of the Moto
E, but let's hope it doesn't come to that.
Specs:

●4.3-inch qHD (540 x 960) 256 PPI display with
Corning Gorilla Glass
●1.2 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200
processor
●1 GB RAM
●4 GB Internal Storage + microSD slot
●5 MP camera on the back (no front-side
camera)
●1980 mAH battery
●Dual SIM slots supporting 3G (Global GSM
version)
●FM Radio
●Android 4.4.2 KitKat
The Moto E will only be available in black or white,
but customizable shells are also available with an
assortment of colors that may vary by market. Sales
of the low-cost handset to India will begin at
midnight (11:30 AM PDT), exclusively available
through Flipkart.com . US pre-orders are already
available directly through Motorola.com with an
anticipated delivery date between June 3rd - 6th for
both the handset and any accessories purchased
with it.
With more power and up-to-date software, the Moto
E is an attractive bid to emerging and low-income
markets. For other regions, Motorola is also kicking
off a new promotional site, GoodbyeDumbPhone.com ,
directed towards encouraging people to give up their
aging feature phones in favor of similarly priced
smartphones. This strategy turned out to be a
massive success for the mid-range Moto X, and it
may give Motorola a commanding position in areas
that are otherwise limited to very old and off-brand
competitors.
